Dear Zurich Opera House Patrons,
It was a great run our Opera House. Ligeia and I want to say thank you to all the musicians, promoters, and you of course, the people that made the place a special place. With great memories for all.
Sadly we lack funding to continue our labour of love. But we are gratefull for the times we shared and for all the good things that people did and said about for the Opera.
So it is a good-bye for now but not forever we hope.

Concerts 7th of June
Dear All,
The Zurich Opera House Group is pleased to present:
June 7th
Time: 1 PM
Artist: Haruno Watanabe, Soprano
Haruno Watanabe, a Japanese origin with Boston Accent (she would like to think so but people call it "Japanese Haruno accent") living in the United States, has been classically trained since her childhood. She was a member of Tanglewood Festival Chorus, chorus group for Boston Symphony and Boston Pops for over 7 years. Singing has been always her passion in her life, but she stopped singing a couple years ago in real life because of some personal reasons. Then she found O lounge, the best Karaoke place in Second Life.
Unlike her past experience singing Japanese folk music, Opera and Operetta, she sings showtune, Standards, Pops and Japanese pop on Second Life. Her friends describe her singing, "a voice pure like a crystal", "fragil and strong in music notes with all her emotion", "lovely and yet fearless sensation around her voice", and "just close your eyes and her voice will transport you far away."
Her Sample music can be found at her myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/harunowatanabe
June 7th
Time: 2 PM
Artist: Gregg Huet
His Second Life setlist includes classic rock hits as well as some alternative rock hits. Easy listening, power ballads and love songs can all be heard at Gregg's concerts all over SL. His crystal clear voice has been described as an honest, sincere voice that captures an audience.
Gregg has been performing regular shows at various venues in SL since April 2008 and has become quite popular with his fan base as well as the patrons to those venues.

Important notice: The Opera will not have concerts during the month of August

Readings from his novel Harold Hake, here is an extract:
Harold Hake is a middle-aged psychologist who teaches at a minor university in the North of England. In the first episode we first meet Harold as he wakes up in bed, hazily recalling an erotic dream he had in the night. He then thinks about the party he had been to the previous evening where he had met up with his old friend Anthea, the aroma therapist. We briefly glimpse Veronica, his ascerbic wife, but not for long, since Harold quickly has breakfast and goes off to his job at the university campus. There, while checking his email, he finds one from the university Vice-Chancellor and he knows that this will be about a voluntary redundancy offer. He does not read it there and then. Instead he prints it off and drives out to the coast where he can look at it in private. He needs to think about it in a tranquil setting.
April Sunday 19th
Time: Noon
Artist: JeanChristopher Chevalier
Born in France in 1961, Jean-Christophe comes from a family of musicians. His parents took his name from Romain Rolland's character, a child from a modest family background who becomes a famous pianist.
In his case it's the guitar rather than the piano! He studied music at the University of Rouen and graduated in Musicology. He also studied Composing and Electro-acoustics at the National Music School of Dieppe.
Eclectic at heart, dabbling in everything, he mixes styles in an unlikely cross-breeding: Classical music, Celtic, Blues, Pop, Electro-acoustics... He is in love with the sound, in search of the absolute purity, the crystal simplicity which gives his music a force and a transparency able to transport the soul.
April Sunday 19th
Time 1PM
Artist: Russell Eponym
(Russell Taylor Ashby) is an acoustic folk and blues singer who has been playing guitar and singing almost all his life. He truly believes that when it comes to music, a person never stops learning and discovering new horizons.
Primarily influenced by Bert Jansch, Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler, Russell has played throughout the years in bands of many genres: rock, punk, jazz and folk and as a solo artist and street singer in London, Paris, and Vienna.
In addition to performing his own work, he sings a multitude of songs by well-known artists such as Dylan, Donovan and Ralph McTell.
His versatile and accomplished guitar playing and his ability with mandolin, banjo and harmonica create a gig that you simply don't want to miss. Russell's unique sound is characterized by his meticulous fingerpicking style, his soft, lulling voice, and charming British stage presence.
Russell was one of the first live performers in SL and was a regular player at many of the top venues.
Russell is truly the eponymous hero of his own life story!

The Zurich Opera House Group presents:
APril 11th
Time: Noon
Artist: Euterpe Queller
Samples of her music can be found at: http://www.myspace.com/shellyphelps
April 11th
Time 1PM
Artists: CelticMaidenWarrior Lancaster
Celtic taught herself to play the guitar in 1971 when she was 13 years old. Her first performance was at an 8th grade talent contest, for which she sang Kris Kristofferson’s “Me and Bobby McGee”. She spent her teen years in the middle of her bed with her John Denver song books. When she left home to join the military, she married and quickly started a family which left little time for guitar playing. During the mid 1980’s she found comfort in performing worship music for her mission church in Okinawa, Japan, as well as singing in a contemporary Christian band which toured around the island. She performed in the USOs for American Military servicemen and their families. Celtic also broadcast live on Japanese radio from the Okinawa Zoo, and Botanical Gardens. She traveled to the Philippines and performed for 5000 people in a dilapidated athletic auditorium and traveled around the barrios sharing music with the local people. Now Celtic is playing everything from folk to classic rock easy listening and rounds it off with traditional Celtic ballads (which she does acapella).
April Sunday 12th
Time 2PM
Artists: Reis and Ald Alter
Live vocals with all-electronic instruments produced by Aldo Brizzi into trip hop, electronica & classical. Tempo varies from quite downtempo (with bossa flavor) to fast breakcore-derived. Reis live presence is etheral and hypnotic. She sings with the charme of her typical Brazilian voice.
As usual, all SL Times.
We hope to see you there!.
